Berlin Trunk-or-Treat Saturday

BERLIN — The town of Berlin is expecting a candy-hungry crowd for this year’s public Trunk-or-Treat event at the Berlin Farmers Market, a pre-Halloween family outing filled with kids’ activities, costumes and (of course) lots and lots of sweet stuff.
Set for Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., this year’s Trunk or Treat gets a boost from Spectrum of Cullman, which is supplying a large candy donation for the free-to-attend event.
Now in its fifth year, Berlin’s annual Halloween celebration has always attracted trick-or-treaters by the carload: “We usually average anywhere from 600 to 1,000 people,” said town clerk Keirstyn Montgomery. “In our very first year, we had 757 bags of candy — and we ran out of that after about an hour.”
Kids can bring their own candy-collecting vessels for this year’s Trunk-or-Treat, which isn’t the only upcoming event on the town’s holiday-season radar. The Berlin Fire Department will also host a pancake breakfast on Dec. 7, a fundraising effort to help purchase Christmas gifts for community children in need.
Though the breakfast is still more than a month away, you can make a contribution toward the gift fundraiser at any time between now and Dec. 7. Donations can be made in person at the Berlin Volunteer Fire Station 1 (3581 U. S. Hwy. 278, Cullman) or at the Berlin Town Hall (461 County Rd. 1615, Cullman).
