Master Gardeners set to host fall plant sale at Agriplex

It’s the seasonal sale that comes but twice a year: once in the springtime, and — beginning next Friday — once again in the autumn, as the foliage (and even the leafy items on offer) start to change.

On Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12, the Cullman County Extension Master Gardeners will host their annual Fall Plant Sale, a chance for anyone with an aspiring green thumb to get their hands on a budget-friendly assortment of flowers, shrubs, grasses and ground cover and trees.

Next week’s sale will include a broad array of flora both functional and ornamental, including hydrangeas, persimmon, fig trees, catalpa trees, forsythia, Lenten rose, crepe myrtle, iris, lilies and flowering perennials, plus a variety of ground cover, house plants and even gently-used gardening items to help ease the planting task once you’ve taken your haul home.

Friday’s sale will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., while Saturday’s session begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at noon. For both days, the sale will take place at the North Alabama Agriplex (1714 Tally Ho Street in Cullman) — the same site where the Master Gardeners — a 501(C)3 nonprofit — also hold their springtime plant sale every April.
