CPD: Seven arrested, charged in ‘multi-state vehicle theft ring’

An investigation into an alleged vehicle theft ring spanning multiple states has resulted in the local arrest of seven people, according to information provided by the Cullman Police Department.

The department’s investigations division, in conjunction with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office, arrested the seven suspects Friday, Sept. 13, in connection with the string of thefts. Each of the suspects has been charged with a single count of receiving stolen property — 1st degree, as well as a single count of obstructing justice.

In a press release Monday, the Cullman Police Department identified the seven arrested suspects as Jamarkiss Kylon Dangelo Weaver, Stephen Dallas Wilhite, Courage C. Wolugboms, Mackqies Markus Teddy Raymond, Quintin L. Clemmons Jr., Nikole Paulette Acree and Kahrese Tracy Lee.

No additional information about the nature and locations of the thefts, as well as the suspects’ incarceration status, was available on Monday.

“The investigation is still ongoing and no other information will be released at this time,” the police department noted in its release.
