FAIRVIEW — The Aggies are once again kings of the Brandin’ Iron Bowl.

Jake Harper rushed for three touchdowns, Carson Jones and Kolt Redding notched two scores apiece and Class 5A No. 5 Fairview dominated from start to finish to take down West Point 48-13 on Friday night in the Region 7 opener for both teams.

Coach George Redding’s group commanded a 42-7 halftime advantage thanks to those aforementioned scoring runs by Harper and Jones — as well as a touchdown strike from Redding to Zayden Cruce. The quarterback’s second scoring toss came on a lengthy connection with Conner Scott in the second half.

“I was very proud of our energy and effort,” Redding said. “We had some mistakes early and penalties that left some points on the field. After that, though, we settled in and played with some confidence. More importantly, we played with consistency.”

It was the fifth straight win in the series for Fairview, which also extended its winning streak in county matchups to 13.

“Offensively, those guys up front and our receivers did a great job blocking,” Redding said. “Jake and Carson also really complement each other. They run hard and each of them has attributes they bring to the table. More than that, I just love that they cheer for each other. When one scores, the other is the first to meet him on the sideline. It’s that kind of leadership that is a great model for our program.”

Jones added an interception on defense — as did Jace Stevens. The unit also racked up numerous tackles for loss throughout the game.

“They’ve played well this whole season,” Redding said. “We are still figuring out some things with the new faces, but they are playing with effort.”

Hunter Hensley, meanwhile, accounted for both touchdowns for the Warriors. His first came on a long pass to Bryant Moon. He added a rushing score late in the contest.

The Aggies (2-0, 1-0) will travel to Ardmore next week. West Point, which fell to 0-3, 0-1, returns home to host Lawrence County.
