Less than a week into the new school year, Cullman City Primary School students are already set to begin reaping the benefits of the school’s newly expanded playground area.

The Cullman City Board of Education approved the $270,000 purchase and installation cost of the new playground area in March and hoped to complete the project during the summer before students returned for the new school year. With only a few final touches remaining, the playground will be ready for use within the coming days according to a statement from the district.

The new area was designed to complement the existing playground and will feature new swing sets, slides and several climbable areas to enhance the outdoor play options available to CCPS students.

The area’s artificial turf surface is also sure to prove that sometimes, the grass really is greener on the other side … of the playground at least.

“Our students can’t wait to utilize the new playground,” CCPS principal Elizabeth Shaddix said in the statement. “They are very excited about the multiple swings on the new playground structure.”
