Agriplex Harvest to Home Dinner set for Sept. 12

The North Alabama Agriplex will celebrate home-grown foods, all prepared with a flourish of locally sourced culinary expertise, when the nonprofit’s annual Harvest to Home Dinner arrives next month.
Slated for Thursday, Sept. 12, this year’s dinner will be held at the Dr. William F. Peinhardt Conference Center on the campus of Wallace State Community College. The conference center is located in the college’s School of Nursing and Center for Science building, which lies at the north end of campus.
The signature annual fundraising event for the Agriplex each year, the Harvest to Home dinner showcases the delicious potential of regionally raised meat and produce, as well as the locally refined skill that attends its preparation. As has been the case with recent Harvest to Home events, planning for the dinner will be led by chef and Wallace State Culinary Arts program chair Aaron Nichols.
With assistance from Wallace State Culinary Pride students, Nichols’ menu this year will begin with a dish of savory watermelon gazpacho toasted sourdough bread alongside toasted sourdough with basil oil and feta cheese, followed by a beef flight with local shrimp accompanied by blue corn grits with country fritta squash. Dessert will feature peach crème brûlée and white chocolate biscottti; all proceeds from the $50 per-plate dinner will go toward Agriplex projects — including the ongoing capital campaign to fund the new construction of the Agriplex’s forthcoming new Community Hub building.
The dinner also features live entertainment as well as on-site live, open and silent auctions, where guests can bid for unique locally crafted items and bespoke local services. Doors open for the evening at 5 p.m. (which also serves as the start time for the open and silent auction); dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by entertainment and the live auction.
Tickets for the event can be purchased individually or in bundles of up to four, as well as in eight-seat corporate bundles that reserve an entire table. Buy tickets online (www.agriplex.org) or on site at the Agriplex, located in west Cullman at 1714 Tally Ho Street NW.
