The recent Bearcat graduate triumphed in the 15-18 division following a two-day total of 135 at Dothan Country Club.

“It really means a lot to bring it back to Cullman,” Shedd said. “Competing against all those guys was very difficult — there were some really good players out there.”

Shedd opened the annual event with a 1-under 69 before corralling six birdies on Friday en route to a 4-under 66 and eventual two-stroke advantage heading into what was supposed to be the last 18 holes on Saturday.

Due to inclement weather, however, play was halted midway through Shedd’s final round and the title awarded to him as the tournament’s 36-hole leader.

Shedd had played 11 holes prior to the stoppage and trailed Homewood’s Jack Lowery by one.

In the end, though, it was the sweet-swinging lefty who hoisted the trophy fresh off a 10-birdie performance at the 75th Future Masters, which has championed several PGA golfers over the years — including major winners Bubba Watson, Stewart Cink, Trevor Immelman and Scottie Scheffler.

“My putters and wedges were definitely working,” Shedd said. “I got some putts to fall on Friday.”

West Point’s Bailey Sutter, meanwhile, finished tied seventh with a score of 140. Cullman’s Will Drake, Cullman’s Jackson Yeager and West Point’s Rawlin Sutter also made the cut.

Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, competed in the event as well.
