West Point’s junior varsity boys outlasted Good Hope 49-44 on Friday night to advance at this year’s Cullman County Basketball Tournament.
The No. 2 Warriors led 19-6 after eight minutes and 29-19 at halftime, but the third-seeded Raiders dominated the third quarter to tie the outing at 38 heading into the final period. The teams then battled fiercely down the stretch, with West Point leading 47-44 with 38 seconds left.
The Warriors then recorded a couple of defensive stops and hit a pair free throws to put the game away and punch their ticket to the title tilt.
West Point will play No. 1 Fairview in the championship game Saturday at 4 p.m.
