- Whatever their evening destination, plenty of locals paused Saturday to stop by Cullman's First Avenue street sale.
Sen. Garlan Gudger collected more than 250 responses in less than 24 hours from agriculture, poultry, real estate and event venues to a survey about re-opening Alabama’s economy, and is now asking all Cullman businesses to also respond to the survey.
Gudger serves on a subcommittee led by Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth that is advising Gov. Kay Ivey and State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris on how and when to reopen segments of Alabama’s economy.
Gudger said the plan will not be “one-size-fits-all,” but will take into consideration types of businesses, the regions they operate in, number of employees, number of customers and other factors.
“We’re trying to find a common sense, business approach to what makes sense on restarting this economy,” he said.
The Cullman Economic Development Agency helped with the survey, and in a letter to businesses Friday said, “These are uncertain times in which we all in unchartered waters. None of us are experts on the best and safest methods for getting our small business back open, our large industries running at full capacity, and our unemployed back to work. However, we feel that by gathering concrete, factual data from those who we are making plans for, we can better serve our people. Input from citizens will be crucial. You all know what is best for your particular field and therefore, we are calling upon you to share your thoughts and advice so that we can plan proactively for the bright future ahead.”
Business owners or plant managers who have not yet taken the survey can do so here:
