Site Selection Magazine has ranked Cullman 6th in the nation for the number of industrial projects in a micropolitan area, up one position from the year before and tied with Angola, Ind., Tiffin, Ohio, Zansesville, Ohio, and Danville, Va.
A micropolitan area is an urban area with a population between 10,000 and 50,000. There are 551 micropolitan areas in the United States.
Cullman moved up from 7th place in 2018 to 6th place in 2019 based on seven qualifying or expanding industry projects. Qualifying projects must meet one of three standards: capital investment of at least $2 million, create at least 20 new jobs or build or expand a building of at least 20,000 square feet.
Cullman is Alabama’s top ranking micropolitan area, followed by Troy and Enterprise, which tied for 31st.
