County schools dismiss early due to weather; Flash flood watch in effect until Thursday evening

A flash flood watch is in effect for Cullman County until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Due to the threat of severe weather, Cullman County Schools dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. City schools did not dismiss early, however, all after school activities and extended day programs were canceled.

A statement on the city schools website stated all students and faculty should be off-campus by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Wallace State closed at 3 p.m. All evening classes and activities were canceled.

A community meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. at the county schools central office was postponed until a later date. The meeting was an opportunity for the public to ask questions regarding the March 3 tax vote. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

The next meetings are scheduled for the following dates:

Thursday at the Cold Springs Gym at 4:30 p.m.

Monday at the Good Hope Lunchroom at 6 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 17 at the West Point Auditorium at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Hanceville High School Gym at 6 p.m..

Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Central Office Board Room at 8 a.m.

Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Fairview High School Auditorium at 6 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 24 at the Holly Pond Lunchroom at 6 p.m.
