Cullman’s varsity girls overcame a double-digit halftime deficit on Friday night, earning a 47-46 road victory versus Huntsville to improve to 8-5 this season.
The Lady Bearcats trailed 20-9 at intermission but outscored the home team 38-26 in the second half.
They forced two turnovers in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win.
“I’m so proud of our girls’ resilience and ability to rise to the occasion,” coach Josh Hembree said. “We always say we want the girls ‘to be at your best when your best is needed.’ That happened for us tonight in a hostile environment against a very well-coached Huntsville team. It would have been easy for them to roll over, but the girls kept playing hard and good things happened for us.”
Anna Katherine Eastman paced Cullman with 19 points, while Hannah Hoffman added 10.
Regan Quattlebaum (six), Alexandria Barker (five), Jaden Winfrey (five) and Sidney Smith (two) also contributed.
