The Cullman County Board of Education accepted a bid from Boatner Construction Company, Inc. of Rainbow City to build the new Family and Consumer Sciences building at Holly Pond High School. The anticipated cost of the addition is $1,095,00 million. A second company, Boyett Construction Company, Inc. of Moulton, also submitted a bid, but was slightly higher than Boatner.

The current Family and Consumer Sciences building is unusable, said Superintendent Shane Barnette. Architects will now draw up plans for the addition, which will include two classrooms.

No date has been set to begin construction, but in order to move ahead the school board needed to hold a special meeting to approve the bid prior to the regularly scheduled meeting in January.
