A Cullman woman died following a wreck near mile marker 294 along Interstate 65 South Monday night. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the woman as Janice Wisener, 56.

According to Alabama State Troopers, Wisener was struck by a 2019 Ford Explorer around 7:50 p.m. while attempting to cross the interstate near Dodge City. Wisener was taken to University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital where she died of her injuries. The interstate was closed for about an hour as emergency crews responded to the accident. 

The driver of the Ford was not injured and remained on the scene. Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident.
