Cold Springs’ boys cross country team put together the perfect season — literally.

And the Eagles punctuated that perfection last Saturday at Oakville Indian Mounds by garnering their first Class 1A/2A state title since 2015 following a superb performance.

Ethan Edgeworth (third), Jonathan Collett (fourth), Cole Akridge (seventh), Will Grimmett (ninth) and Aaron Spurger (12th) provided quick times — they each earned All-State honors — for Cold Springs, which claimed 10 meet titles — Pepsi XC Challenge, Chickasaw Trails Invitational, TCBY Invitational, Kudzu Hills Invitational, Jesse Owens Classic, Oktoberfest Invitational, Cullman County meet, Northwest Alabama Championships, Class 1A/2A, Section 2 meet and Class 1A/2A state meet — this season.

No matter the division, no matter the competition — the Eagles triumphed each and every time.

Austin Alexander, Jayden Allred, Brody Belcher, Justin Caffee, Hunter Calvert, Kaiden Graves, Slade Johnson, Austin Nichols, Josiah Walker and Seth Walker also contributed throughout the year.

Cold Springs’ boys cross country team is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.

Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Tony Serra Nissan, is open to all local athletes.
