Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas Auto Show revs up Saturday

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Cullman’s Depot Park, where this Saturday lovers of rare and classic cars, trucks and motorcycles will get together — as they do each year — for the 33rd annual Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas auto show.

A fundraiser for local charity Christmas Love in memory of Burl Smith and Larry Harris, the rain-or-shine show brings dozens of antique and interesting vehicles together at the park with no admission fee for guests (funds are raised through the event’s $20 registration fee, although a toy of equal value will also cover the cost.) Each year, Christmas Love and Cullman Caring for Kids reaches out to identify and distribute gifts to local children who might be at risk of missing out on gifts at Christmastime.

In addition to the cars, there will also be an auction at 1 p.m., as well as an awards giveaway near the end of the show to highlight the flashiest rides. The first 100 owners to register their vehicles also will receive a dash plaque.

Last year’s show raised more than $5,000 for local kids, and organizers are hoping for an even bigger response from the community this year. Billed as a rain, sleet or snow event (though Saturday’s weather is expected to be sunny with highs in the 50s), the Ho! Ho! Ho! show revs up beginning at 8 a.m., and runs through 2 p.m.
