Henderson named Cullman Times editor

Amy Henderson has been named editor of the The Cullman Times.

Henderson began her journalism career as a community journalist at Georgia newspapers after graduating from Troy University with a degree in journalism. She later received a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from Kent State University. Henderson spent several years as the director of communications for the Georgia Municipal Association prior to joining CNHI.

General Manager Katherine Miller said, “Amy is a strong leader and a great addition to our team. I encourage the community to stop by the newspaper, say hello and help welcome her to town. We look forward to her leadership and editorial expertise.” 

CNHI Deputy National Editor Jim Zachary was on hand Monday to introduce Henderson to the newspaper staff. “We are so fortunate to have Amy as part of our CNHI family,” Zachary said. “The community will love getting to know her and working with her. Amy is positive, full of energy and loves telling people’s stories. She cares deeply about quality journalism and has high ethical standards. She is a great fit for Cullman and The Times.”

Dave Bohrer has been named CNHI regional editor overseeing its Alabama newsrooms. Bohrer was also on hand for Henderson’s first day. Bohrer said, “I look forward to working with Amy and I’m confident she’ll do a great job serving the Cullman community.”

Henderson said, “I’m excited to return to community journalism and to be a part of this community in particular. I believe in the power and purpose of local newspapers and am looking forward to telling the stories of the people of Cullman.”
