CULLMAN COUNTY VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT: Fairview, West Point shine on Day 1

WEST POINT — Fairview and West Point delivered terrific efforts on Day 1 of the Cullman County Volleyball Tournament.
The top-seeded and three-time defending champion Lady Aggies netted a win (25-17, 25-16) over No. 4 Holly Pond, while the second-seeded Lady Warriors took down No. 7 Hanceville (25-5, 25-8) before storming past No. 3 Cold Springs (26-24, 25-6) on Monday.
The two squads will meet on Tuesday at 4 p.m. — the winner advancing to the title match.
In other action, Holly Pond beat fifth-seeded Vinemont (25-16, 25-13) and Cold Springs downed No. 6 Good Hope (25-10, 25-20) in the opening round, while the Lady Raiders notched a victory (25-13, 25-10) against Hanceville later in the day to keep their championship hopes alive.
Cold Springs/Vinemont and Good Hope/Holly Pond will kick off Tuesday’s action at 3 p.m.
The winners of those two matches will then face off at 4 p.m., with the winner of that match taking on the loser of Fairview/West Point at 5 p.m.
The championship match will follow at 6 p.m. An if-necessary match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Lexi Shadix led the Lady Warriors with 18 kills, seven blocks, three aces and one dig.
Molly Pendley (nine kills, five digs, one ace, one assist and one block), Kyla Kilpatrick (13 assists and six kills), Braelee Quinn (six aces and five kills), Ryleigh Jones (four aces and four kills), Gracie Thompson (26 assists) and Sasha Hunter (two assists) also provided contributions for the Maroon and White in Monday’s matches.
Micah Means (32 assists, three kills and one dig), Katie Ball (seven kills, two blocks and one dig), Isabella McGukin (two kills), Jacy Gorham (seven kills), Deavan Fulmer (one kill), Daisy Manasco (15 kills, three digs, two aces and one block), Kyleigh Aleman (three kills and two blocks) and Sara Bryan (two digs) were the top contributors for Fairview.
Cold Springs was led by Anna Kate Voce (20 digs, 12 kills and four aces), Morgan Harris (14 kills and three blocks), Kylon Hamby (eight digs and eight kills), Emi Harbison (20 assists and four blocks) and Emma Chambers (nine kills, five digs and two blocks).
Stats for Good Hope, Hanceville, Holly Pond and Vinemont were unavailable.
