CCBOE recognizes employees for service

Three Cullman County School System staff members have been recognized for their exceptional service to their schools and students by the school board.

Cold Springs High School teacher Stephanie Blair, Good Hope Schools bus driver Tammy Aaron and West Point Intermediate School librarian Kim Whitman each received the system’s e5 Exceptional Service Award, which is given each month to teachers, students, volunteers or anyone on a school campus who goes above and beyond in their day-to-day actions.

In other business, the board: 

Approved 2019-2020 After school Programs and personnel (personnel paid by local school funds): 

Fairview Elementary: Angela Kee, $11 per hour, and Kristi Boyd, $16 per hour.

Harmony: Lynn Gunter and Angela Baggett, $15 per hour.

Approved a request from Cold Springs Elementary School to pay Justin Wiley $700 for assisting with middle school basketball, paid by local school funds.

Approved a request from Fairview High School to pay $500 to each of the following approved non-faculty coaches for volleyball coaching supplement, paid by Fairview High Volleyball Booster Club: Annie King, Lilly Hardman.

Approved a request from Fairview High School to pay the following for summer workouts, paid by the Fairview Quarterback Club: Trett Hardman- $160, Josh Davis- $280, Rick McDonald- $200, Brian Simmons- $80, David Martin- $500.

Approved a request from Fairview High School to pay the following an extra season supplement, paid by the Fairview Quarterback Club: George Redding, Jr.- $2,500, Trett Hardman- $3,200, Josh Davis- $1,700.

Approved a request from Good Hope High School to correct the following supplement amounts paid by the Quarterback Club and approved at the Sept. 9 board meeting: Mitch Witcher- delete request for $500 supplement, Patrick McDonald- change requested supplement to $750 instead of $1,300.

Approved a request from Holly Pond High School to pay the following with local school funds: Andrew Kelly- $1,500 for 2019-2020 Athletic Director duties, Crystal Laney- $250 for keeping football gate, Teresa Thompson- $250 for keeping football gate.

Approved a request from Vinemont Middle School to pay Erik Runge $1,000 for attending AMSTI training this past summer, paid by local school funds.

Approved a request from Vinemont High School to pay Todd Johnson $2,000 for the roles and responsibilities of the 2019-2020 Athletic Director, paid by local school funds.

Approved a request from Welti Elementary School to change the hours for Charlotte Reid to 2:30-5:30 p.m. for the Welti Elementary Afterschool Program, paid $20 per hour with the Dependent Care grant.

Approved a request from Welti Elementary School to pay Evan Curtis, Holly Pond Band Director, mileage per county rate for travel to and from Welti for beginner band classes, paid by local school sales tax funds.

Approved a request from West Point Middle School to pay Tyler Morgan $500 to help with football, paid with local school funds for football.

Approved a request to pay the following a stipend of $1,500 per year for managing the Library Media Specialist software, professional development and other LMS support as needed, paid by the curriculum general fund: Mark Adams, Hanceville High School Library Media Specialist, Kim Whitman, West Point Intermediate Library Media Specialist.

Approved the following out-of-state field trip requests:

Cold Springs High School FFA, traveling to Moultrie, Georgia on Oct. 15 for the Sunbelt Ag Expo.

Vinemont High School FCCLA, traveling to Dallas, Texas on Nov. 14 for the FCCLA Cluster Meeting.

Vinemont Elementary School third grade, traveling to Chattanooga, Tennessee on Nov. 22 to visit the Tennessee Aquarium.

Approved August 2019 financial statements.

Approved August 2019 bills and salaries.

Approved a request to increase the Bus Station Head pay to $255 per bus per year for additional duties and to make corrections to the 2019-2020 Cullman County Schools Salary Schedule.

Approved a request to pay Joey Eddy $875 for extra work on A+, paid by A+ College Ready.

Approved of the following revised and new board policies: 3.10.4- salary deductions, 4.2.4- tobacco, 4.11- political activity, 5.19- prohibition on aiding and abetting sexual abuse.

Approved the 2020-2021 Cullman County Schools calendar.

The Cullman County School Board will next meet on Nov. 14 in the Central Office Board Room, with a work session beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting immediately following.
