PREP ROUNDUP: Fairview crushes North Jackson 47-7; Addison rolls past Colbert County; Good Hope suffers 1st loss

Fairview returned with a vengeance on Friday night, smashing North Jackson 47-7 to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in Class 4A, Region 7 play.
The Aggies, fresh off a bye week, dominated from start to finish inside Dafford Smith Stadium to pick up their first victory against the Chiefs in 14 attempts.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our guys and coaches tonight,” head coach George Redding said. “Our coaches put together a good plan, and our guys executed at a high level.”
Parker Martin’s 8-yard touchdown run in the first quarter gave Fairview a 6-0 lead.
It only grew from there.
Martin tossed a 35-yard touchdown strike to JT White to make it 12-0 before Tyler Simmons notched a 1-yard touchdown run to put the home squad in front 19-0. Martin’s third touchdown of the first half — a 5-yard pass to Mason Black — propelled the Aggies to a 26-point halftime lead.
Tyvn Ellis (46 and 51 yards) and Black (5 yards) added touchdown dashes in the second half.
Martin completed 10 of 15 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 98 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Ellis racked up 151 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries.
Simmons (11 carries for 60 yards, TD) and White (five catches for 80 yards, TD) also had strong contributions.
Fairview is off to its best region start since 2012.
The Purple and Gold will host West Morgan next Friday night.
“We’re like everybody else in the region,” Redding said. “We have a goal to get to the playoffs, and we are taking it one game at a time. We’re proud of what we’ve done so far, but that doesn’t matter moving forward. Somebody’s going to be left out, and there’s a lot of work to be done.”
Addison 44, Colbert County 12
The Bulldogs crushed the No. 10 Indians at home on Friday night.
Addison (5-2, 2-1 in 2A, Region 7 play) boasted a 13-12 lead at halftime thanks to a Luke Chambers pick-six (46 yards) and a Weston Smith touchdown dash (4 yards).
Coach David Smothers’ team then turned it on in a dominant second half.
Smith (4 and 5 yards) and Caleb Crider (6 yards) recorded touchdown runs, while the latter also had a fumble recovery (3 yards) for a touchdown on defense.
The Bulldogs, who fell to Colbert County 35-8 last season, flipped the script this time around.
“It was the most complete game we’ve played this year,” Smothers said. “We’ve still got some things to clean up, but we played with more consistency and took advantage of their turnovers. We’ve really just got to control what we can control. We’ve got to take care of business to win a region title. We’re going to focus on us and each game. We won’t have a shot at it if we don’t take care of us.”
Addison heads to Tanner next Friday night.
Athens 31, Cullman 17
The Bearcats fell short against the Golden Eagles away from home on Friday night.
Cullman, which trailed 17-3 at halftime, made it a one-possession game in the third quarter following a 1-yard sneak from quarterback Max Dueland.
Athens, however, answered with two touchdowns to put the 6A, Region 7 contest out of reach.
Max Dueland added a touchdown pass to Jake Dueland in the fourth quarter.
Brody Adams provided the first-half field goal.
Cullman (3-4, 2-1) will travel to second-ranked Muscle Shoals next Friday night.
Northside 41, Good Hope 16
The 4A No. 4 Raiders dropped their first game of the season on Friday night.
Good Hope led the No. 8 Rams 16-14 at halftime, but the road team took control in the second half.
Colton Bagwell (2 and 68 yards) secured a pair of touchdown runs — the latter of which came after colliding viciously with a Northside defender — for the Raiders in their home loss.
Walter Perez also tacked on a field goal for Good Hope (5-1, 2-1 in Region 5 play).
The Raiders travel to Haleyville next week.
Midfield 36, Hanceville 12
The Bulldogs fell at home to the 3A No. 10 Patriots on Friday night.
Hanceville (3-4, 1-3 in Region 5 play) trailed 12-0 at halftime before Midfield pulled away.
Bo Joles produced a 2-yard touchdown run and a 30-yard touchdown pass to Brodie Malcom.
The Bulldogs are off next week.
Locust Fork 48, Holly Pond 18
Kyler Chaney had three touchdown dashes for the Broncos, who fell to the Hornets on Friday night.
Holly Pond is now 1-6 overall and 1-3 in 3A, Region 5 play.
Locust Fork never trailed and built a 28-6 halftime advantage.
One of Chaney’s touchdown runs covered 71 yards.
The Broncos will host J.B. Pennington next Friday night.
Fultondale 36, Vinemont 22
The Wildcats overcame a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter to down the Eagles on Friday night.
Dallin Dinkle’s touchdown run and 2-point conversion put Vinemont (2-4, 1-2 in 3A, Region 5 play) ahead 22-7 with 11:35 remaining in the game.
Fultondale, however, delivered 29 unanswered points for its 22nd straight region victory.
Dinkle and Brodie Curvin each had touchdown scampers in the first half.
The Eagles held a 14-0 halftime advantage.
Vinemont returns home against Locust Fork next week.
Jasper 42, West Point 7
The Warriors fell at home to the 5A No. 1 Vikings on Friday night.
West Point dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in Region 7 play following the loss.
Kelton Washington had a 4-yard touchdown dash in the fourth quarter for the Warriors.
West Point travels to Dora next week.
