A Hanceville man has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine after a half-pound of the drug was seized in a search of his residence on Wednesday.

The Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), investigators and deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) arrested Jacolby Conway Pitts, 31. In addition to trafficking, he was charged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.

CNET and CCSO obtained a warrant late Wednesday night at the suspect’s residence in Hanceville. After searching the residence and surrounding premises, deputies located approximately 245.6 grams, a little more than a half-pound, of methamphetamine. Deputies also found needles and other drug paraphernalia. 

“I continue to be impressed with our deputies making proactive drug arrests. Once we learn that someone is a dealer of narcotics in Cullman County, we will do everything in our power to make sure we arrest that suspect,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would like to thank all the CNET agents, CCSO investigators and deputies who conducted this search warrant. Anytime law enforcement conducts a search warrant it’s dangerous and I’m glad it was conducted effectively and safely.” 

Pitts has made bond.
