PREP CROSS COUNTRY: St. Bernard wins small-school title at Randolph Classic; Guthery takes home individual crown

St. Bernard’s boys earned the small-school (Class 1A-4A) title at Tuesday’s Randolph Classic, while Caleb Guthery claimed the individual crown at the annual event known as the “Run in the Mud.”

Guthery, Joseph Arriaga (eighth), Eli Loyd (12th), David De Jesus (16th) and Nikolas Borths (23rd) helped the Saints (55 points) hold off Fairview (70) for the top spot.

Guthery finished with a time of 17:26.80.

Peyton Bailey paced the Aggies with a second-place showing.

Daniel Cook (10th), Keagan Hardin (13th), Jacob Hankins (24th) and Alex England (27th) netted the other counting times for the Purple and Gold.

The Lady Saints, meanwhile, finished second as a team.

Madi Kerber (fourth), Emma Powell (seventh), Sara Barck (21st), Kathleen George (22nd) and Claire Sanders (31st) provided the top times for St. Bernard.

Fairview, which finished fourth, was led by Angelica Antibero’s 12th-place showing.

Carrington Chambers (23rd), Alyssa Harper (24th), America Diaz (28th) and Jillian Moore (30th) also had strong performances.
