PREP SPORTS: Vinemont’s Dinkle named Athlete of the Week

Published 2:14 pm Tuesday, September 3, 2019

There was no stopping Vinemont’s Dallin Dinkle last Friday night.

The senior running back delivered a dynamite performance, guiding the Eagles to a 32-21 road victory versus Falkville for the program’s first season-opening win since 2016.

Dinkle did it on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, he totaled 267 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries — all career highs.

Defensively, he mustered enough energy to rack up nine tackles and two pass breakups.

Not too shabby.

In fact, those numbers are the reason why Dinkle is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.

Offensive linemen Tyler Mayfield, Isiah Young, Caleb Butler, Tyler Brown and Dakota McGraw helped pave the way for 340 rushing yards for Vinemont.

So, too, did tight ends Tanner Brown and Chandler Reese.

Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Tony Serra Nissan, is open to all local athletes.

Nominations can be sent to jwinfrey@cullmantimes.com with the person’s name, school and statistics.
