PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Lady Broncos claim small-school title at Black and Gold Classic; Chambers speeds to individual crown

Holly Pond’s girls secured the small-school title (Class 1A-4A) at Saturday’s Black and Gold Classic in Scottsboro.

Camilla Chambers torched the field with a sensational time of 19:28.81 — the top mark across all classifications and a new personal record — to earn the individual crown and lead the Lady Broncos to a team-total of 25 points.

Breanna Tankersley (second), Abigail Kusz (third), Sarah McCaffrey (fifth) and Madison Frnka (14th) also delivered speedy performances for the Green and White.

Holly Pond’s boys, meanwhile, compiled 62 points to finish second behind Pisgah (50).

Zackery Reynolds (third), Christopher Putman (fourth), Parker Sellers (fifth), Hunter Farr (24th) and Caleb Partain (26th) provided the counting scores.
