PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Cullman sweeps Bearcat 2-Mile; Aviles notches individual title

Cullman’s cross country teams swept the titles at Saturday’s Bearcat 2-Mile.
Jennifer Aviles paced the Lady Bearcats, who totaled 23 points, with a wonderful outing (12:55.74) to secure the individual crown, while Bernarda Tizapa (second), Della Kelly (third), Colette Whitney (10th) and Tess Heaton (11th) also helped their squad finish in first place.
Good Hope was fifth.
West Point’s Kali Marsh (13th) and Cullman’s Olivia Smith (19th) also finished in the top 20 locally.
Will Thompson (second), Nicholas Wood (third), Adam Mangum (fourth), Conner Lowery (11th) and Walker Huddleston (12th) produced the top times for Cullman’s boys, who racked up 30 points in a first-place performance.
Fairview placed third, and Good Hope was eighth.
Fairview’s Peyton Bailey (ninth), Fairview’s Daniel Cook (13th), Cullman’s Troy Adkison (15th), Vinemont’s Will Rhodes (16th) and Fairview’s Keagan Hardin (19th) rounded out the remaining local times in the top 20.
Cullman’s junior high boys also recorded a first-place finish on Saturday.
Harold Sheffield (second), Cayden Brewer (third), William Nichols (sixth), Ethan Nix (13th) and Luke Johnson (15th) contributed to the team victory.
