The roll of drums and the blare of trumpets will signal another kickoff of high school and college football.
Action gets underway in Cullman County on Thursday with West Point traveling to Fairview and Cullman making the journey to face Jasper in Walker County. Cold Springs’ team will also make the short trip to Winston County to play Meek.
Even more season-openers are on tap Friday and then the season will be in full-swing, culminating in a hopeful run at the playoffs for several teams by November.
The beginning of football season hopefully will soon bring cooler days and evenings to celebrate a great American and community place at stadiums across the area.
Aside from the excitement of the on-field action between teams, a lot of students put hours of practice in to prepare for the season. Cheerleaders, bands, majorettes, flag corps all create the rich flavor of high school football throughout our communities.
The season’s dawn is arriving. Your support as fans will means a lot of every student who participates at every level, from being on the field, to roaring their support from the stands.
Make it a point to support your community’s schools and enjoy a great tradition under the stadium lights this year.
