I want to thank Ben Bullard and The Cullman Times for the article written before our ceremony (Finis J. Self Chapter 2212 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart) last Saturday. Publishing the names really made the difference. I had numerous calls about the list; we will be adding more names because of that. Also, I have difficulties in maintaining contact information on next of kin for the names we read. Every year I lose contact info for six or more names because of deaths, dropping land lines, changed phone numbers and email addresses. This year I received contact information on three that I had lost through death. Younger family members contacted me and came to the ceremony. We had more guests at this year’s ceremony than we’ve had in six or seven years. Thank you very much.
