Traffic is seen along U.S. 278 after a wreck that claimed one life earlier this month.

One person is dead and another was airlifted Wednesday from the scene of a vehicle crash at U.S. 278 West and County Road 831.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick identified the victim as Aura Dequasie, 85,a resident of County Road 827. The injured person has not been identified.

Both directions of traffic were closed for an extended period. The accident, involving more than one vehicle, occurred before 7 p.m. 

The intersection reopened  at 8:45 p.m.
