Cullman and St. Bernard were the only high schools from The Times’ coverage area to go fine- and ejection-free for the 2018-19 school year, according to annual data released by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) this week.

Eight local high schools combined to pay out $2,400 for 15 total infractions — up from $1,750 and 10 total infractions in 2017-18 — with penalties stemming from ejections, audit fines, head coaches not attending rules clinics and a student eligibility rule violation.

Addison ($550) had the highest bill, while Good Hope and West Point ($100) shared the lowest.

Cullman and St. Bernard will be recognized, along with the state’s other spotless high schools, at the AHSAA Summer Conference Sportsmanship Luncheon on July 19 in Montgomery.
