Deedee Coley of the Gardendale Civitan Club spoke to the North Jefferson Rotary Club last week.

The two clubs are looking at an opportunity to partner on a project that would reoutfit the gym at the Burkett Center with flooring that would be more useful to the students at the school. The rubber substance that is proposed to cover the floor is sturdy enough to accommodate wheelchairs but softer than hardwood so the students can play on it without being injured.

The clubs have an estimate for $7,300 for material to cover half of the gym floor.
