The Sears Hometown Store will close by July 19.

Located at 1906 Market Platz Center, the store has occupied several locations in Cullman, including Cullman Shopping Center in what is now Books A Million.

A store employee, Ben Easterwood, said employees were notified last week to mark down the inventory for liquidation. He said three employees operate the store in its present location.

The store will continue to be open 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

The store’s website at searshometownstores.com/home/al/cullman/3075 includes a large banner noting the liquidation sale.

The local store was damaged in the March 2018 hail storm but later reopened.

Sears has announced numerous closings in 2018 and the beginning of 2019.
