Friday and Saturday — the dates for Rock the South — are expected to carry high temperatures of 86 degrees and lows of 62, somewhat of a break from the heat of recent days, according to the National Weather Service.

If projections hold true, 65,000 or more are expected to be in Cullman over the two-day concert, which will feature 14 performers, including the highly requested Kid Rock on Friday night, along with acclaimed duo Brooks & Dunn.

Saturday’s headline act is Florida Georgia Line, which performed here in 2016.

Noted by prestigious Billboard magazine as one of the nation’s top concert dates, Rock the South is moving just a few miles from its original location Heritage Park.

The festival venue this year will be on more than 140 acres at 1872 County Road 469 in Cullman. For interstate travelers, the site is expected to be easily found, although the roads are two-lane approaching the land.

Rock the South co-owner Shane Quick said the larger area opened up the opportunities to provide fans with expanded amenities for a more personal experience, such as camping sites, which sold out, as well as RV parking and expanding glamping tents.

Founded after the massive tornado outbreak of 2011, Rock the South has steadily grown attendance and the magnitude of stars who take the stage. From the late, legendary Gregg Allman, Hank Williams Jr. Alan Jackson, Little Big Town and beyond, the crowds grow each year, leaping from 45,000 just a few years ago to 65,000.

A host of law enforcement, fire and medical personnel will be on hand throughout the event.

Some tickets remain, mostly general admission for $109 and VIP Access for $339.

Higher premium tickets are sold out, including Ultimate VIP at $629.

Parking is $50.
