Price of city school lunches to increase

The price of Cullman City School lunches will be going up for the next school year in order to stay in compliance with United States Department of Agriculture guidelines.
In a special called meeting Tuesday morning, the board approved an increase in lunch prices for the 2019-2020 school year by 25 cents for each school and for CCS employees.

The lunch prices for the 2019-2020 school year are $2.75 for East Elementary, West Elementary and Cullman City Primary School; $3 for Cullman Middle School and Cullman High School and $3.50 for employees. No change was made to lunch prices for visitors or breakfast prices.
In other business, the board:
- Gave permission to salvage an inoperable Dell 5130 laser printer from Cullman City Primary School.
- Gave permission to salvage the following McGraw Hill textbooks from West Elementary School: Reading (70 copies), Language Arts Today (41 copies), Science (40 copies) and Social Studies (42 copies).
- Gave permission to surplus an old Sanyo TV from Cullman City Primary School.
- Gave permission for the East Elementary School archery team to travel to Nashville, Tennessee on July 25-27 to compete in the NASP World Tournament.
- Gave permission for the Cullman High School cheer team to travel to Sevierville, Tennessee on June 23-26
- Gave permission for Cullman High School theatre students to travel to the airport in Atlanta, Georgia for the flight to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Thespian Festival on June 23-30.
- Gave permission for Cullman High School fishing team to travel to Paris, Tennessee for the National Championship on August 8-9.
- Approved the ratification of bid results with Great Southern Recreation as the lowest responsible bidder, meeting specifications for the Cullman City Primary School Playground Renovation.
- Gave permission for East Elementary School to adopt and purchase the following materials to support their curriculum in reading and science: Wit & Wisdom student workbooks, W&W trade books, Studies Weekly, Go Math!, PebbleGo, Mystery Science, Flocabulary, Okapi guided reading books, and Power of Patterns. East Elementary School Textbook Committee approved this adoption and purchase.
- Gave permission for West Elementary School to adopt and purchase the following new reading materials including supplementals: Being a Reader, Making Meaning, and Patterns of Power. West Elementary School Textbook Committee approved of this adoption and purchase.
- Gave permission to demolish the older vacant houses on Cullman City School’s property at 208 8th Street NE and 702 2nd Avenue NE.
- Germission to provide a $50 stipend for the CCPS Leadership Team to meet on June 24 to plan 2019-2020 school year. (Title One Funds)
- Gave permission to provide $100 per day stipends to new teachers, teachers changing grade level assignments at East Elementary, West Elementary, and Cullman Middle School for AMSTI Training during the summer of 2019 (Curriculum/Instruction Funds)
- Gave permission to provide stipends to teachers and instructional assistants for Medication Training and/or Crisis Prevention Training at the following rates: Teacher Full Day – $100; Teacher Half-Day – $50; Instructional Assistant Full Day – $50; and Instructional Assistant Half-Day – $25.
- Gave permission to provide $100 per day stipend to new teachers attending New Teacher Induction the week of July 22-26.
- Gave permission to contract with Karla Rodriquez to serve as a Spanish translator for the CCS 4th Annual Bridging the Summer Gap Camp (Title III Funds/Ross Grant)
- Gave permission to contract with Elizabeth Shaddix to provide student placement and other counseling duties during the summer of 2019 (Title One, Part A Funds).
- Gave permission to contract with the following nurses to provide nursing services on an as needed basis beginning June 1 through Aug. 2 (General Fund): Amanda Baker, Shan Goodlett, Kalysha Whittle, Dori Potter and Reeta Morrow.
- Gave permission to amend payment to Jennifer Calahan for her mentor responsibilities from $450 to $600 to reflect her additional mentee responsibility for the 2018-2019 school year.

- Erin Thompson, second grade teacher at West Elementary School, effective May 24.

- Sarah Martin, second grade teacher at East Elementary School, beginning Aug. 2
- Alexandria White, temporary fifth grade teacher at East Elementary School (2019-2020 school year only), beginning Aug. 2.
- Alisha Waugh, temporary first grade teacher at Cullman City Primary School (to fill a leave of absence for the first semester of 2019-2020 school year), beginning Aug. 2
- Supplement Resignation:
- Erin Thompson, West Elementary Yearbook, effective May 24.
