Memorial Day Ceremony to be held Monday

Memorial Day is an annual opportunity to honor those who died in active military service, and local officials have decided to remember those men and women on Monday, May 27 at the North Jefferson Memorial Day Ceremony.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. at North Jefferson County Veterans Memorial Park in Fultondale. A reception will follow at American Legion Post 255, located at 1834 Carson Rd. in Birmingham.
The ceremony is presented by the City of Fultondale, the American Legion Hawkins B. Carter Post 255 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6173. Post 255 Commander Dennis A. Duckett Sr. will provide an introduction, Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery will speak and World War II veteran “Bo” Millard Carwyle Jr. will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Recent additions to the veterans memorial walls include Vietnam veterans Jack Douglas Crowson Sr., Don Austin Foshee and Bobby Donald Smith.
