Cullman City Primary School will be getting new playground equipment using federal funding.
In a special called meeting Thursday morning, the board approved a motion to go out to bid and accept the lowest responsible bid for new equipment for Cullman City Primary School’s indoor playground.
Cullman City Schools Superintendent Susan Patterson said the special meeting was called in order to go through the 21-day bidding process and make sure the work can start over the summer and be finished before students come back.
“This is federal Head Start money that has to be spent by a certain time, and we’ve just found out the amount and it was more than we thought it would be so we had to go through the bid process,” she said. “This will enable us to be able to get this started and do playground work during the summer and have it complete before school starts.”
The Cullman City School Board’s next regularly scheduled meeting is May 21 at 5 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room.
