Cullman residents will soon get a look at a series of proposed changes and clarifications concerning zoning, particularly with subdivisions.

The Cullman Planning Commission announced Monday evening that the plan from KPS, ordered by the Cullman City Council, will soon be available online to read and will be the subject of a public hearing at the June 3 commission meeting.

“The whole idea was to clarify things and streamline. We are the ones who will approve this. We will schedule a public hearing before we approve it or make any changes,” said Planning Commission Chairman Mike Voss.

Voss also said the plan presented to the commission includes specific requirements concerning complaints from developers. He also said the intent of the proposals is to simplify the process for developers as well as the commission.

“This is straight-forward so that information must be provided to us and department heads in ample time to review,” Voss said.

In other business, the commission:

approved a short-form subdivision – Olive Street SW – Divide one lot into 3 lots

denied a short-form subdivision – Planned Housing Development – 9 lots – Ash Ave. NE &  Meldrum Street NE – Phase 1, because it did not meet existing city requirements.

approved a short-form subdivision – 1st Street NW & 3rd Ave NW.
