- Milo's employee Asa Elliott takes an order from Vinemont Elementary archery team member Ethan Rabren during the team's state championship celebration Wednesday morning.
Members of the Vinemont Elementary archery team were treated to lunch at Milo’s Wednesday in celebration of the team’s recent victory at the Alabama State Championship.
Archery coach Josh Drake said the morning’s trip to the restaurant was to let the team members have some fun and get recognition for their victory.
“It’s just for the kids to celebrate what they did and accomplished,” he said.
Drake said the archery team will be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky for the National Archery Tournament next weekend, and he was happy to get the chance to bring the team to Milo’s to celebrate their win before they try for another.
“We’re just trying to recognize them for the accomplishment that they made, and Milo’s was gracious enough to do this,” he said.
Milo’s Local Store Marketing Coordinator Morgan Gray said the restaurant was happy to host the team to help them celebrate their state championship.
“It’s not every day that an archery team wins state,” he said. “We really just wanted to recognize it.”
Gray said Milo’s hosts several events for schools in the area, such as a Student of the Month lunch that lets a student come to the restaurant with their principal and have a red carpet and special table settings to celebrate their achievement or going out to schools to host milkshake-making tutorials for classes that have the best attendance.
By having contests that feature those kinds of rewards, Milo’s can encourage students to make good grades or come to school every day and can help them get a better education, he said.
“We really want the kids to be as knowledgable as possible and get as good an education as possible,” Gray said.
