PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Cold Springs boys win sectional title; Numerous local individuals qualify for state

Cold Springs’ boys claimed a first-place showing at their sectional track and field meet over the weekend, while numerous individuals secured spots ahead of this week’s state meets in Cullman and Gulf Shores, respectively.
Cold Springs (girls), Cullman (boys), Cullman (girls), St. Bernard (boys) and St. Bernard (girls) finished second in their respective sectional meets.
The top-five individuals and relays from each section meeting qualifying standards picked up automatic bids, while several local programs garnered a handful of wild-card representatives as well.
Class 1A-3A teams — Addison, Cold Springs, Hanceville, Holly Pond, St. Bernard and Vinemont — will head to Cullman this Friday and Saturday, while 4A-7A squads — Cullman, Fairview, Good Hope and West Point — will head to Gulf Shores for a three-day event beginning this Thursday.
