Gardendale junior LuLu Lancaster (5) scored five goals on Pinson Valley during a 10-0 first-round playoff victory in Driver Stadium. 

Junior LuLu Lancaster paced the Gardendale girls soccer team (11-7-1) on Friday night in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

The Rockets claimed a 10-0 mercy-rule win over Pinson Valley (6-8) in Driver Stadium. Lancaster poured in five goals as Gardendale advanced to the round of 16, opposite the winner of Pell City (9-2-2) vs. Carver-Birmingham (7-6-1)—a match scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. The second-round game will be played next Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The Pinson Valley boys soccer team (12-8-2) bumped Gardendale from the Class 6A bracket on Friday night with a 2-1 overtime victory in Driver Stadium.

Pinson will travel to Area 12 rival Clay-Chalkville next Tuesday in Round 2. Gardendale, the champions out of Area 11, close out the 2019 season with a record of 10-7.

The Fultondale girls soccer team (11-2-1) will travel to Class 1A-3A, Area 6 champion Donoho (15-1-1) in the first round of the playoffs next Monday at 5:30 p.m.

That match pairs with Altamonte-Sacred Heart Catholic in Round 2.
