Escapee from Loxley captured at Gardendale WalMart

Update: Emily Burr was released from the Jefferson County jail Wednesday night on $2,600 bond. William Justin Cole has been charged with additional counts of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of a controlled substance. His bond on the new charges is set at $1,600.

William Justin Cole, of Brookside, reportedly walked away from a work detention center in Loxley, where he was serving time for possession of a controlled substance. 

U.S. Marshals and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office located Cole and Emily Hunter Burr, also of Brookside, at Gardendale WalMart on Wednesday afternoon. Police said the couple were in a vehicle that was reported stolen from a residence on Cherry Avenue on Tuesday night. 

Both Burr and Cole were taken to the Jefferson County Jail.

Burr faces charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree hindering prosecution. Her current bond is set at $2,600.

Cole’s additional charges were not listed at the time of this posting.

Additional charges may be filed against both Burr and Cole.
