Cullman County Schools Superintendent Shane Barnette said the project was approved at a previous capital planning meeting of the board, and the safety of the lighting system was the primary reason for the replacement.

“There were some safety issues, with poles rotting and so forth, that we felt like if we didn’t change the lighting system out it could be a danger to students,” he said.
