Baseball - Roundup

Vinemont plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Monday en route to a 6-5 home victory over Locust Fork.

The Hornets garnered an early 2-0 lead, but Zander Noblett plated Travis Hopper with an RBI single in the bottom of the first frame to cut the Eagles’ deficit in half.

With the game tied at 3 in the fifth inning, Wyatt Thomason put Vinemont ahead with an RBI single of his own to score Issac Smith.

Locust Fork, however, responded with two runs in the sixth frame to seize a 5-4 advantage.

The Eagles, though, weren’t to be denied.

Deacon Samples (RBI double) and Noblett (sacrifice fly) put Vinemont back in front for good.

The latter then struck out the side in the seventh inning to secure the win.

Smith and Thomason each finished with three hits and one RBI.

Hudson Wood added two hits, and Noblett (two RBIs), Samples (RBI) and Clay Rogers claimed one apiece for the Eagles.

Smith had a sacrifice fly in the third inning, and Dalton Whitehead stole home in the fourth frame.
