Baseball - Roundup

Good Hope withstood a seventh-inning rally from J.B. Pennington on Friday to earn a 5-3 home victory.

The Raiders picked up their first win of the season despite recording just two base hits against the Tigers.

Preston Bagwell’s RBI single in the third inning gave Good Hope a 1-0 lead.

Paydon Bagwell socked a two-run single in the fourth frame to extend the cushion to 3-0 before

Austin Wright followed with a sacrifice fly shortly afterward to make it 4-0.

Wright racked up another sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to give the Raiders a five-run advantage.

J.B. Pennington, though, responded with three runs in the seventh inning and loaded the bases with two outs.

However, Matt Hancock coaxed the final out to record the save and secure the triumph.

Paydon Bagwell (two RBIs) and Preston Bagwell (RBI) had one hit apiece.

Wright tossed in two RBIs, and Bailey Quick earned the victory on the mound.

The latter tossed 6 2/3 innings, scattering five hits and four strikeouts.
