Storm damage has been reported in White City.

Thursday’s storms produced an EF-1 tornado that damaged several homes in the White City community and a building in Holly Pond.

A representative from the National Weather Service toured the damaged area with Cullman County Emergency Management Agency Assistant Director Scott McDonald on Friday morning.

“The tornado was estimated at 105 miles per hour, which is enough to cause a lot of damage,” McDonald said. “From what was observed, it looked like the tornado was skipping a lot, which is why there wasn’t even more damage.”

The White City Community Center roof was peeled off by the short-lived tornado. The home of Rand and Kathy McLeroy was heavily damaged, as were their automobiles. The couple also lost a number of chickens and rabbits they were raising.

Other homes and barns in the area were damaged, including a mobile home that was destroyed when a large tree fell across it.
