Music Opportunity Program presents Spring Showcase

The Music Opportunity Program presented its Spring Showcase Recital March 3 at Mortimer Jordan High School.

The mission of the Music Opportunity Program is to provide young people with a musical education which results in a lifelong love of music.

The Music Opportunity Program sponsors both instrument instruction and participation in youth orchestras. MOP has provided youth orchestra experiences for over thirty years. Instrument instruction is taught in the String Academy and Private Instructions divisions.

The MOP Youth Orchestra program includes three youth orchestras, each structured for a particular age and level of advancement.

The Birmingham String Orchestras, The Birmingham Prelude Strings and The Alabama Youth Symphony. Membership in the MOP youth orchestras is by audition, and auditions are open to any student in the Birmingham area.

The MOP Showcase Recital is held every year in March. It is the Showcase Recital which brings together, on one stage, all the different parts of the Music Opportunity Program.

The Music Opportunity Program is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation.

The Music Opportunity Program would like to thank Mortimer Jordan High School and Jefferson County Schools for the use of their facilities.
