- Archers from Tabernacle Christian School take aim during the S3DA State Championships in Prattville last weekend.
It was a championship showing for the Tabernacle Christian Archers on Saturday in Prattville.
The Torches placed nine bowmen, including five S3DA state champions against what coach Ron Huie called a ‘packed house’ of competition. State champions include Colin Nix (elementary: male traditional), Cam Huie (high school: male Alabama genesis), Jackson Hill (middle school: male Alabama genesis), Alexandria Spruill (high school: female Alabama genesis) and Brooklyn Ferguson (middle school: female Alabama genesis).
Second-place archers include Makenna Janicke (elementary: female traditional), Owenn Colvin (elementary: male traditional) and Tucker Mayfield (high school: male Alabama genesis).
Adia Lefoy (elementary: traditional) also represented Tabernacle Christian School on the podium.
Huie brought 15 students to the state championship competition, however the event does not conclude the Torch’s season. On March 22 the team will travel to Conecuh Springs, Ala. for the Alabama Christian Athletics Association State Championship, which is a more team-oriented competition than the S3DA championships.
