6 arrested on drug charges in Cullman

Several investigations this month by the Cullman Police Department Crime Suppression Unit led to drug arrests.

According to a release from the CPD, the Crime Suppression Unit charged Christian Davis Barnett, 22, of Cullman, with 4 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance for selling methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Barnett was out on bond at the time of his arrest on multiple other felony charges. He was transported to the Cullman County Detention Center where he remains incarcerated. 

On Feb. 18, investigators arrested Lisa Diane Wise, 47, of Vinemont, for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance for selling methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Wise was booked in at the Cullman County Detention Center where she has since been released. 

On Feb. 22, while executing a search warrant at the residence of Billy Leon Williams Jr., 35, of Cullman, officers recovered more than a pound of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. Williams Jr. was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Williams Jr. was on probation at the time of his arrest. He was transported and booked in at the Cullman County Detention Center where he remains incarcerated.  

On Feb. 23, the Crime Suppression Unit along with officers Jake Lambert, Clint Sanford and Bryan Medlock with Cullman Police Department’s Patrol Division, investigated a civil disturbance call at the Days Inn motel. According to a release from the CPD, officers recovered methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana and a stolen handgun after receiving consent. Ashley Denise Moore, 34, and Ben Cody Scruggs, 31, both of Cullman, were arrested for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana second degree, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property fourth degree. Moore also had outstanding warrants for her arrest.

Courtney Lamar Copes, 36, of Birmingham, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and receiving stolen property fourth degree. According to the CPD, Copes is on probation in Jefferson County and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. All three subjects were transported and booked at the Cullman County Detention Center where they all remain incarcerated.
