Warrior moves forward on $10 Million financing with county

WARRIOR—The Warrior City Council on Monday night approved a resolution for the approval of economic development. The resolution is the first step of a joint effort between the City of Warrior and Jefferson County and what is called the “Hallmark Farm Cooperative District,” which was created by the city and county. According to information provided to another media outlet, the agreement will include a principal loan of $10,000,000 for economic development to “provide certain real estate, and public roads, streets, and related public safety facilities, and public utility facilities there for, within the District and the corporate limits and police jurisdiction of the City for use for commercial, light industrial and retail purposes.”
The terms of the loan say the city and county will both make payments on the loan for a period not to exceed 20 years. The Jefferson County Commission would be taking the lead role in the property acquisition.
The Jefferson County Commission will take up the matter of their involvement in the project at a meeting on Thursday.
In other business, the council also:
•approved a fire hydrant to be placed on Valley Ridge Road.
•approved a donation of $1,500 to the Boys and Girls Club for a four-person table for an event on Feb. 28.
