Trash rates to rise slightly in Warrior

WARRIOR—The Warrior City Council on Monday voted to accept a slight rate increase from Republic Services, which provides trash pickup services for the city. The increase will be $1.32 per quarter for each account.

The council also approved hiring one laborer and one equipment operator for the city’s street department after the departure of one employee and recent illness of another. Anyone interested in the positions should contact city hall for more information or to apply.

Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon sent a letter to the Warrior City Council thanking them for their assistance when an inmate escaped from them recently in Hayden. Several Warrior police officers responded to assist with tracking and apprehending the escapee.

The council also approved the installation of three new street lights in Indian Acres.
