More than 80 talented Cullman County children are preparing to showcase their talents at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre.

The musical and theatrical performances of the 2019 Bownes Memorial For Kids’ Sake Variety Show, sponsored by the Cullman Regional Foundation, will be Feb. 10 at 4 p.m.

The students’ performances will raise money to benefit nursery and pediatric care at Cullman Regional.

The event was started in 1993 by Dr. Eugene Bownes, one of Cullman’s most beloved pediatricians.

The program allows the Foundation to purchase special items for the hospital to help care for infants and pediatric patients. Proceeds from the event have purchased a variety of patient-care items through the years.

Engaging the students in the show allows them to be exposed to a philanthropic event at a young age.

Through their participation they will give back to help advance healthcare services. The participants make donations at the time of their auditions, sell tickets and sell sponsorships for the show.

The Bownes Memorial For Kids’ Sake Variety Show promises to deliver a wide range of talents, from solo and ensemble dance performances, to vocal and instrumental performances. Tickets may be purchased in the Foundation office for $10 in advance and $15 the day of the program.

“We are excited to once again host the variety show giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Shirley Quattlebaum, For Kids’ Sake chair. “We encourage the community to take part and show your support for this cause benefitting the nursery and pediatric care at Cullman Regional.”
